It’s (Almost) Complete! The New Cabin at B’nai B’rith Camp!
Take a peek at the almost finished new two-story cabin, the latest addition to BB Camp. Below you will also find a link to the floor plan of the cabin. The new cabin has many special features, including the deck overlooking Devils Lake and a common/ programming room. Additionally, half walls separate every other bed to create semi-separate sleeping areas without breaking up the common room concept we believe to be important to building cabin cohesion. By using the half walls, we are able to put the beds closer together, which saves floor space, allowing a smaller total footprint for the cabin and more green space outside. We also designed the counselor area so that the counselors had a little bit of privacy from the kids but were not in a separate room. We wanted to make sure that they retained sight lines and were part of the common cabin setting. Since the lower floor is accessible without any stairs and has the required ADA shower and toilet, the entire building is ADA compliant. It is easy to assume that the cabin is just the place kids sleep. We took a much more holistic approach to designing this cabin, recognizing that the cabin unit is the most important part of a good camp experience. We are excited to open this cabin this spring, and fill it with happy children this summer!
