Camp Experiences Build Self-Confidence And Strengthen Social Skills

B’nai B’rith Camp (BB Camp) will host its second annual spaghetti-dinner fundraiser “Change a Child’s Life…Send a Child to Camp” on Thursday, May 31. The dinner, which sent 87 Lincoln City-area kids to day camp last summer, will take place in the camp’s new dining hall and will feature Mayor Dick Anderson, camp tours, raffles and The Anchor Inn’s famous spaghetti sauce.

The doors open at 5pm for camp-wide tours that will showcase the new BB Camp dining hall that boasts additional seating, a new indoor/outdoor fireplace and deck and remnants from the former dining hall. The dinner will commence at 6pm where Mayor Anderson will speak about the scholarships and the importance of camp.

Tickets for the dinner are $10 and will feature Kip Ward’s famous meat and vegetarian sauces.  Purchase tickets by phone at 503-452-3443 or 503-345-9451. Tickets may be purchased online at http://bbcamp.org/spaghetti-dinner. Raffle tickets will be sold at the event for a chance to win tickets to the July outdoor concert at Chinook Winds Casino featuring the Jackson Family, tickets to the Siletz Bay Music Festival, wines, local artist creations from Mor Art Studio and more.

BB Camp formed the non-faith based Day Camp in 2006 to offer children from Lincoln City a camp experience rich with structured indoor and outdoor activities that build self-confidence and strengthen social skills.

Situated on Devils Lake, children attending Day Camp enjoy broad programming such as hydro-tubing, canoeing, swim lessons, a ropes course, music, arts & crafts, sports, drama and much more. Children are also fed delicious and nutritious hot lunches and snacks as part of their day camp experience.

“Lincoln City is fortunate to have a rich resource such as BB Camp Day Camp right in our backyard,” said Event Chair Sue Anderson. “The dinner opens the door for many children to have an experience they would not normally have – lifelong memories in the making along with opportunities that come from exposure to camp experiences.”

B’nai B’rith Camp, located on a lakeside campus on the scenic Oregon coast, is the premier Jewish resident camp in the Pacific Northwest. Since 1921, the camp has been dedicated to providing the best summer experience for today’s campers while preparing them to be tomorrow’s community leaders. BB Camp strives to teach the values and ethics of Jewish living by example, experience and creative expression. B’nai B’rith Camp has consistently proven to be a great place for youth to learn about themselves, their Jewish identity, their environment and how to relate to others.

B’nai B’rith Camp’s overnight camp offers a wide range of activities, including arts and crafts, Jewish enrichment, athletics, waterskiing, sailing, canoeing, hydro-tubing, swimming in the heated, outdoor pool, dancing, nature, singing, high- and low-ropes challenge courses, leadership, community service, drama, creative writing, Shabbat celebrations, overnights and trips. BB Camp’s Day Camp is strictly non-faith based. B’nai B’rith Camp, an independent JCCA camp, is licensed by the State of Oregon and accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA).
