BB Camp Blog – Week 2: July 1-7, 2017

What a wonderful week it has been at BB Camp! Our week began with an incredible and spirited Israel Day, led by our Mishlachat (Israeli counselors – pictured here, with Kim S.). Campers spent the day participating in themed stations and activities relating to Israeli culture, history, food, and everyday life. We then celebrated July 4th with a special BBQ lunch and an entire Aquatics Day program for our younger unit and older unit campers. There is no better way to celebrate independence day than dock swim, giant slip and slide, and water balloons! Of course, we ended the day with a view of fireworks over Devil’s Lake!

In addition to Israel Day and Aquatics Day, this has been a week filled with overnight trips. Our youngest campers just returned to Camp from a night of camping by the beach and a field trip to the aquarium. Our 5th and 6th graders also got to camp by the beach and for their field trip got to go on a whale watching cruise. The campers were excited to see whales & sea lions! Our 7th and 8th grade campers just returned from their rafting

trip on the Deschutes River and cannot stop talking about how much fun they had! Our Teen Village, Leaders in Training, and Staff in Training trips are ongoing, so look for an update next week with all of the fun they had on the road and the ways each group chose to celebrate Shabbat away from Camp.

Shabbat Shalom!
