Oregon’s Jewish Overnight Camp

Located on the beautiful Oregon coast, B’nai B’rith (BB) Camp is a vibrant and inclusive Jewish camp serving the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington and British Columbia) since 1921. BB Camp has been a home away from home for generations of campers of different ages, backgrounds, denominations, and abilities. Our unique culture is built on sharing fun experiences in a welcoming environment that inspires all campers to grow, and develop enduring Jewish identities.

NON-STOP ACTIVITIES

There are many opportunities to be creative at BB Camp! From Arts and Crafts with your cabin, to Club and Individual electives, you might find yourself: candle-making, tie-dyeing, writing poetry or stories, painting, making garbage art, sculpting, beading, making a mask, creating pottery, or even helping create a mural for all to enjoy!

From our beautiful location on Devils Lake, our campers enjoy a myriad of waterfront activities including: canoeing, water skiing, sailing, wake-boarding, paddle boarding and inner tubing. The aquatic fun doesn’t stop there though! We also have a fantastic swimming pool, and are just a few minutes away from stunning Oregon Coast beaches. Looking for even more water fun? 7th and 8th grade campers can learn how to catch a wave in our incredible BB Surfs Program! Hang Ten!!

At BB Camp there are tons of different ways to stay active and learn new skills. Play tennis or Pickle Ball on our newly resurfaced courts; soccer, softball, field hockey, ultimate frisbee, or relay games on the big ball field. Make a splash in our heated swimming pool, or try your hand with a bow and arrow at archery. Rainy day? No problem! Take it indoors for basketball or yoga. Above all, we encourage campers to give things a try and move their bodies for both physical and mental well-being!

BB Camp is our favorite place, but it certainly isn’t the ONLY place we’ll be hanging out this summer! All campers will participate in both day trips and overnights. Younger campers might head out for berry picking or to learn about creatures of the deep at the Newport Aquarium while older campers venture further, into the high deserts of Central Oregon, or to the rivers for white water rafting. Of course some adventures happen right down the road with fun-filled days at the beach, splashing in the waves and building sand castles!

Some of the proudest moments at BB Camp take place on our our Ropes Course, Zip Line, and Climbing Tower. Supported by a community of trusted counselors and cabin mates, campers resolve to push the boundaries of their comfort zone and try new and thrilling activities such as the flying squirrel, catwalk, and trapeze. The persistence to reach the top of our 30 foot climbing wall, and courage to let go and fly across the zip line build confidence and self-esteem that last a lifetime!

  • Throughout our hundred-year history, Shabbat has remained one of our campers’ favorite experiences. We slow things down and focus on connecting with everyone in our community. Deeper discussions about Jewish tradition, culture and history are presented in energetic and interactive ways that further connect to Modern Israel. LINE SPACE: Campers studying for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah can sign up to work with our incredible Jewish Enrichment Director to ensure that they continue to gain confidence and fluency while they are at BB Camp.

Lively song sessions follow every lunch and dinner, becoming even more boisterous when coupled with thundering hand motions and dance, while calmer songs around the campfire round out each day. Whether using your voice, or learning to play an instrument, music is part of every day at BB Camp. Theater arts give every camper an opportunity to shine, in cabin skits or perhaps a theatrical rendition of the week’s Torah portion or spotlighted Middah (value) of the day. Our focus is on helping EVERY camper to find their own voice, positively express themselves, and discover the creativity that sparks their passion.

Our Middot (Jewish Values) are part of everything we do at BB Camp… Judaism is at the heart of B’nai B’rith Camp and is woven through all aspects of our programming. Our seven core Middot (Jewish values) are presented in ways that are engaging for people at every level of Jewish knowledge or observance, and are central to building our respectful and inclusive community.

Tour Our Amazing Camp

Nestled along the shores of Devil’s Lake and only a few minutes away from the magnificent Oregon coast, B’nai B’rith Camp is an idyllic place to spend a summer. With temperatures averaging 70° and sunny dry days, our location provides an ideal environment to unplug and enjoy the outdoors.

Our lakefront offers campers experiences in canoeing, kayaking, sailing, swimming, paddle-boarding, wake-boarding, and their favorite activity… inner-tubing. We also have a heated pool that campers enjoy swimming in both during cabin time and as an elective.

Your camper will be warm and comfortable with their cabin-mates! Our brand new state of the art double decker cabins sleep 19 kids on each floor and have heat, bathrooms and showers on each floor, and are divided by gender between the North and South sides of Camp. Thirteen of our cabins are ADA compliant!

Our Campus Center holds our Art & Crafts center which includes a pottery studio, Day Camp facilities and staff lounge on the first level; and on the second level we have our staff offices as well as open areas for dance, indoor programming  which includes skill builder chugs, break out programming for themed days, Shabbat services and any other activities our counselors and campers can come up with! (There are pictures for this of kids playing freeze tag and gaga.

The Dining Hall is a central point on camp. Not only do kids get tasty and nutritious meals and snacks but the hall also transforms into a place where memories are made! Song sessions after lunch and dinner allow campers to bond with each other through song and dance. Our Shabbat dinners create very special memories for our campers. With two fireplaces, we can create cozy evening programs and have several areas for special “camp fire” song sessions.

The Mendelson Health Center was completed in 2014 and houses our medical staff which includes on-site medical assistants and a volunteer doctor in a modern facility.  Safety and outstanding healthcare of our campers is of prime importance to BB Camp and our facilities provide the first line of support in this care.  All medications are stored here and dispensed as appropriate and as directed by your child’s physician.  If your child is not feeling well at camp, you can be confident that he or she will be receiving comforting, excellent professional care and attention.  Additionally, we are within a few minutes of a complete network of health care providers.

B’nai B’rith Camp serves a kosher menu. Special diets can often be accommodated if discussed ahead of time with the Camp Director.
Everybody loves to get mail! It is recommended that parents write to their campers at least every 2 or 3 days. For first time campers, parents may want to send a letter or card before camp begins to be sure something is waiting for them. Our campers unplug during Camp but you will be able to call the camp office and email the counselors during the summer with inquiries.
